WorldBird Blogg Latest Updates                                                                               14/05/2015

We have opened a Twitter account and will be posting info about latest upates.

The parrot family is a huge family of incredably clever birds. I have been working on the family for some time and an still only half way. I would like to thank everyone that has contributed to the family specially the Friends of WorldBirds. Any photo you submit correctly tagged will at some point appear on the website. The journey so far has taken me to Austrailia, New Zealand, Asia and even Europe. I have just reached the Macaws so I'm back in South America, I hope you enjoy he journey with me.

The latest website to give us permission to use their photos is National Parks Indonesia all rights reserved I hope you visit the site. It may encourage you to visit the country.

We have just posted a new bird of prey Rufous-necked Sparrowhawk, thanks to Jon Hornbuckle one of the worlds top birders.

I am also working on the India lists, which I hope to complete before I visit there this year.

I have recently done a lot of work n te brailian regions, so when you post your photos please tag them with the corresponding region so that they will also be picked up in the regional slideshow.

The Cuckoos are another large family so I will be working on them for about a month. We need photos of a number of species, also video and sound recordings. If you would like to help please contact us.

We need more photos video and sound recordings of the mousebirds although we do have at least one image of each species.

Coraciidae, Brachypteraciidae, Leptosomidae, Momotidae,

Todidae, Alcedinidae, Halcyonidae, Cerylidae, Meropidae

I am working on the Kingfisher clan, hope you visit while you are here, they are a fascinating family.

I would like a volunteer to help with this family, if you can help please contact me.

Ducks and Nuthatches

I have done a lot of work on and

We now have at least one image of every member of the order Anseriformes and the family sittadae.

I hope you enjoy the changes but be ready to turn the sound down.

We still need some more photos, video, sound recordings. Some data fields need information if you can help please do.

Please tag photos with common name, scientific name, family name, and order. That will ensure their inclusion in the various slide-shows.

Once again I'm humbled at the response and help I get, I don't have enough time to thank you all individually so thanks to everyone who has contributed to this web site.

I am now working on so any photos e.t.c. will be great but please don't stop sending your other photos.

60 today Happy Birthday WorldBirds

WorldBirds is sixty today. Well not true but I am, Born 30/03/1949 I started feeding birds in the back garden before I started school and had my first bird book when I was six. At eleven I was writing my first bird book, at sixteen I did a speach about the balance of nature. The Observers book of British Birds, I still have one today. I lost my way because of the need to work and bring up a family (which I have no regrets about). I have taken early retirement as the firm MFI that I worked for closed down. That means I have more time to work on the web site. I do have to have a break and do a bit of Birding, cycling or fishing.

With all this time I am improving the site: example Ruddy Duck The page includes: Photos, video, sound recordings and data. Plus a slide-show of all the photos of the species in the Friends of WorldBirds photo stream on Flickr. That means that any photo that is correctly tagged and added to the group will automatically be added to the web page for that species. Please be patient it will take time.

I am also working on British County lists. reserves around the world, doing a daily news service Bird News and working on the new group and feature Bird Table and Backyard birds.

Please if anyone can help, even if only a little, please contact me.

Upton Warren

I have created an account on Face book with a new group for the friends of world birds.  Now anyone can upload video or photos to me. If you have sound recordings or data about birds could you please e-mail them to me.
