This ancient order contains the world’s largest birds and contained the largest ever living bird.  The Moa only disappeared from New Zealand a few years before White settlers arrived. There are now only three families included and ten species.  A group of record breakers the ostrich is the largest living bird and lays the largest egg and the kiwi lays the largest egg in relationship to its body weight.
